School of the Scriptures Philosophy
Without knowledge of the Word of God, believers cannot be faithful or fruitful in their spiritual walk nor can they “draw nigh to God” as scripture admonishes them to do (James 4:8). Bible ignorance is epidemic and is a major cause of spiritual confusion, compromise and corruption among God’s people. The Apostle Paul prayed that believers would abound in a love for God and others based on knowledge and judgment (discernment). This can only happen as the heart and mind are immersed in the truth of the Bible.
The School of the Scriptures ministry was founded in 2010 as a means to nourish men, women and young people to a strong, healthy and useful Christian life. All of these courses of study are pursued from an unapologetic Biblicist, Baptist, separatist, literalist, TR position with the ultimate aim of learning, loving, and be loyal to the Word of God and the God of the Word.
SOS convenes in two semesters annually (Fall/Spring) meeting each Monday evening for twelve consecutive weeks. Normally three (3) courses are offered each semester. Students have the option to audit or credit courses and may pursue a four – year track of study earning a completed Community Baptist School of the Scriptures diploma.
Fall/Winter 2025 Classes
Monday, September 15 thru Monday, December 8
Two books of the Bible are extremely hated by the Wicked One and upon which he has bent all his energies to discredit and deny-that is Genesis and Revelation. These Books foretell the downfall and eventual destruction of Satan (Gen. 3:15; Rev. 20:1-3, 10) thereby becoming target for his hate campaign. Genesis is in many respects, the most important Book in the Bible. Every great leading fact, truth, and revelation is found here in germ.
This dynamic study will help reaffirm basic convictions on the origins of earth and man, while magnifying God and His supernatural creation. Attention is given to the sinfulness of man, the holiness of God and the sovereignty of His purpose and plan. It will help crystallize truth concerning God’s design for marriage, home and family, even as it touches on the issues of gender, role distinctions, and human sexuality.
Students will obtain a working knowledge of the early chapters of Genesis and their application to our present day, post–modern world. Overall, students will gain a clearer picture of God’s final word of authority concerning Creation–order and its indispensable, foundational, and essential contribution in understanding the rest of the Bible and all its teaching.
All students will learn the essence of a biblicist hermeneutic, understanding its necessity, value and application in the understanding of Scripture. The study will guide through the interpretive process employing the literal, historical, grammatical, contextual, cultural, and spiritual approach to God’s Word. Included is an overview of the dispensations of God’s progressive plan. Errant systems of Bible interpretation will be identified even while specific passages are analyzed and understood dispensationally. Students will gain a greater appreciation for overall Bible study and come away with a practical, working knowledge of the tools used toward accurate biblical interpretation.
