Courage is contagious; it begets courage. Cowardice is equally contagious; it begets cowardice. Caleb’s testimony in Joshua 14:8 speaks of this. Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God. The cowardly testimony of the 10 spies melted the heart of the people. Caleb however along with Joshua maintained a tenacious trust which resulted in strength of heart-courage. If we trust God and His word we will have strength of heart. If we live in unbelief and listen to the culture or the crowd our heart will melt. Hushai gave counsel to Absalom about not pursuing after King David. He spoke of men who were valiant and had hearts of lions (II Samuel 17:10). We need men who will have hearts of lions in these days. We need men who are valiant for truth (Jeremiah 9:3). We need men who will not let their heart melt at the slightest noise [...]

In our minds the Apostle Paul would be considered one of the greatest apostles. A man who had such a dramatic conversion to Christ, who wrote over 13 NT epistles, who served the Lord so faithfully. Yet in Paul’s mind we see his thoughts about himself. He had a proper understanding of the grace of God. He knew the grace of the Lord to be exceeding abundant. 1 Corinthians 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. Think upon the wonderful privileges which these Old Testament saints did partake. They ate spiritual meat and drink. Let us notice the source of that drink. They drank from the Rock. CORONAVIRUS ANXIETY Pastor Jonathan Stockton Because of the Coronavirus, we've been seeing a lot of strange circumstances. We're not used to it at all. We know of many in the culture who are experiencing "anxiety". This is not surprising; lives have been turned upside down and death and loss is more on the mind than normal, in some cases in front of our eyes. But even before the virus, anxiety has been a growing problem for the culture. So, what about Christians? Is anxiety sin? Is it sin to "have anxiety?" Certainly we have times of need, times of distress, sadness, weakness, frailty, or times of fearful obstacles coming into our lives. But is it sinful? Why, the Psalms are full of professions of great anxiety! And does not the Lord say that He knows and understands our anxieties? Some are afraid because of the government overreach that is evident just under the surface. They see American rights eroding away and it causes anxiety. [...]

Psalm 121:1 <A Song of degrees.> I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. God is the source of help for the believer. In any difficulty, trial, affliction, or trouble, God is the one to whom we must look. Psalm 121, in this beautiful song, presents this God of help. David had a proper perspective in his difficulties. He would lift up his eye, far away from his problems. He would look up to the hills and even higher to the Lord. When we are in the valley of trouble and turmoil, we must make the same choice. We must choose to lift our eyes up to the Lord. Sadly many keep their focus within the vale of their present trouble.
