Amid all the rallies, town halls, debates, campaigning, speeches and spectacles, there is the strange absence of reference to the spiritual and moral condition of our Nation. Believe it or not, agree with it or not, in our current situation, America cannot survive even if it had maximum wealth, a robust economy (we’re far from that), massive military might, and a foreign policy envied by world leaders. God’s Word says, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Prov. 14:34). This land of the free and home of the brave is becoming a bastion of infidelity, immorality and idolatry. Did you know that this country is one of the largest users and producers of pornography in the world, has one of the highest rates of divorce and dysfunctional homes anywhere, and with stunning rapidity, is being engulfed in apostasy by embracing the gods of materialism (love of things); hedonism (love of pleasure); humanism (worship of man) and paganism (animism & demon worship).
Friend, the eternal Word of God spells out our destiny in the REAL State of the Union, “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” (Psalm 9:17). Even more frightening, is the reality that America has not only ‘forgotten’ God but is openly and actively fighting against God and His holy commandments. We stand in even greater jeopardy today because this land once knew better having roots founded on biblical principles and founders who were men of moral and spiritual conscience who feared Creator God and honored His Word. The truly sad truth is that the pulpits and ‘churches’ of this Republic which once were lighthouses of righteousness and refuge for lost souls, have become shrines of darkness mirroring the wickedness of pop culture and shepherded by dumb dogs that cannot bark (Isa. 56:10).
The Union is already under judgement and what we are witnessing now is reminiscent of the prophetical illustrations of a nation caught unawares – “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matt. 24:37-39). Thank God for His grace and mercy which hold back the floods of destruction upon our Land (II Pet. 3:9). An election will not solve America’s problems but a generation of godly men, women and young people who will believe and obey God, warn people to repent of sin and receive Jesus Christ, fleeing from the wrath to come and who will become prayer warriors interceding for the State of our Union is our dire need.
